Most Successful Teams and Drivers at the Belgian Grand Prix

Belgian Grand Prix

The Belgian Grand Prix has been a part of the fabric of Formula 1 since 1950 and has hosted the race on three different tracks during its history. Drivers and teams always had to be prepared for rain and for twenty years straight a wet track surface was guaranteed.

Spa-Francorchamps is the current home of the GP and has the vast majority of the races held in the country. The two other circuits used in Zolder and Nivelles were nonetheless some great and sad moments were shared with the world.

Let’s take a look at the most successful teams and drivers who have won the Belgian GP.

When looking at the list of drivers who have won in Belgium it is no surprise it contains the who’s who of Formula 1 greats. Legends from nearly every era stand out on the list like Fangio in the fifties, Clark in the sixties, Senna in the eighties, Raikkonen in the early 2000s, and Hamilton leading into today.

Yet there is still one driver who stands on top of the impressive list, Michael Schumacher who displayed his mastery of Belgium be it in the rain or dry temperatures. When it comes to Formula 1 teams Ferrari and McLaren are in a league of their own winning thirty-one races between themselves. Ferrari has claimed the checkered flag the most with seventeen wins and have stood on the podium consistently throughout Belgium’s GP history.
